This Weekend: The Bunny Free Guide To Easter

This is an Easter bunny, Easter bonnet and Easter egg hunt free blog.

But it does include pie.

1. Nothing says Easter more than ricotta pie. If you're Italian away. But you don't have to be Italian to enjoy it though. Before I give you my mother-in-law's super secret family recipe (Thanks Connie!), however, I gotta say it really irks me when people mispronounce the word Ricotta (My mom's 100% Italian, remember?), which is why I'm including this how-to video:

So helpful, right?

Now that we cleared that up, I feel like I can hand over Connie's Recipe.

Here it is:

Ricotta Pie

  • 2 lbs Ricotta
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 and 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 glass of rum (Use a whiskey glass to measure if poss.)
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1/2 cup of light cream

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl.

Coat a 13x9 glass baking pan with butter and then pour in your mixture.

Bake at 300 degrees for 15 mins

Lower heat to 275 degrees and then continue baking for another 1.5 hours.

Please don't go getting the wrong idea here because my plan is not to actually bake this myself, but to get my sister to do it. First off, she's an excellent cook/baker and second, I just bought her a black dress from the sale rack at Anthropologie, so it's a non-issue. She'll definitely do it.

And Speaking of Sale Shopping...

2. If shopping is your cardio and you want to burn off some of the ricotta pie, there are tons of sales and promotions going on right now. My fav J.Crew has their 20% off when you spend $100 or more and 30% off when you spend $200 or more promo in store and online until April 5th, making it the best time to get some new clothes for the nice weather. If J.Crew isn't your bag (I swear I won't judge you.), there are plenty of other exciting markdowns out there. I found this fantastic blog, called The Chloe Conspiracy, that has a running list of April Fools' Day (Weekend) Sales & Deals. Check it out.

If you want something more traditional in the way of exercise, then this is for you.

3. Pure Barre - which in case you don't already know, I love because it changed my body for the better - is running a promo all month long called Free Friend April. So, if you've always wanted to try a class, find a friend who is already a member and piggyback on them. Check out their FB page for more details and restrictions (Long story short, you must be new to PB to take advantage of this.).

Ciao for Now,

Patty J
