3 Of The Best Spots For Coffee (And Something Extra) This Summer

Whether you're a fan of your coffee hot (Yesssss, some of us still reach for pipping hot coffee in 90+ degree temps and high humidity.) or iced, you'll appreciate these three spots for java that also offer fab water views.

Hidden away behind dozens of other shops and eateries on Bannister Wharf, I was pleasantly surprised to discover Coffee Grinder, small but mighty coffee shop that also has pastry, sandwiches, fresh fruit, and dozens of other drinks on the menu. Absolutely adored their coffee as well as the fact that I got to drink it while sitting out on a deck with swell views of Newport Harbor.

Coastal Roasters has lots to offer - coffee made with beans hand-roasted fresh daily, a (sweet) small town vibe, and an outdoor set up that, this time of year especially, is tailor made for adding to your Insta Story or just taking a meditative breather from what's stressing you IRL. Add in the colorful Adirondack chairs that overlook the Sakonnet River/Mt. Hope Bay and it spells cheery, upbeat excursion.

Every Sunday, June thru mid-September*, you'll find the Providence Flea over on South Water Street. On the outskirts of the booths? Some of the most popular food trucks around, including Presto Strange O Coffee. Grab a cup of their organic joe - before or after shopping the Flea - and taking it over to the (nearby) walkway area that overlooks the PVD River. There you can gaze upon the often-Instagrammed Power Plant (one of THE most photographed ones in the whole world or so I've been told) and the PVD skyline which includes the also often-Instagrammed Superman building.

*Weather permitting of course
