If You Like Your Coffee With A Water View, These Local Places Are For You

Whether you fancy hot coffee (Yes, some of us still reach for pipping hot coffee in 80 and 90 degree temps.) or iced, you'll appreciate these four sensational spots for a java jolt that also offer fantastic water views. Why not spy and try them all in your travels around the Ocean State this (almost) summer?

Coffee Grinder in Newport

Tucked away behind dozens of other shops and eateries on Bannister Wharf, we were pleasantly surprised to happen upon Coffee Grinder, a small but mighty coffee shop that also offers pastry, sandwiches, fresh fruit, and dozens of other drinks on the menu. Sip your coffee while sitting out on a deck with ahhh-mazing views of Newport Harbor. Pretty close to postcard perfect.

Belle's Cafe In Newport

Located in the Newport Shipyard and Marina, Belle's is the under-the-radar cheery spot for your next leisurely coffeebreak, breakfast or lunch this season. Enjoy your java with some mellow vibes while doing some low key (don't be obvious...lol) people watching. Never know who you'll see there. After all, word on the street in the City By The Sea is that celebs like Beyonce, Jay Z, and Jerry Seinfeld (also Johnny Depp's yacht, being worked at the nearby biz that services such things) have all been seen there during Rhody summers past.

Presto Strange O Coffee Truck at The PVD Flea

Been to the Providence Flea yet this season? On the outskirts of the tents you'll find some of the most popular food trucks around, including Presto Strange O Coffee. Grab a cup of their organic joe, before or after shopping, and take it over to the walkway area along the PVD River, where you can gaze upon all the sights and structures lining the PVD River.

Coastal Roasters in Tiverton

Our introductory visit to Coastal Roasters was on a grey day a few years ago. CR definitely has a lot to offer - delish coffee (Beans hand roasted fresh daily btw.), a sweet small town vibe, and an outdoor set up that, this time of year especially, is tailor made for mobile uploading to Instagram and Facebook or just taking a meditative breather from what's stressing you. Add in the colorful adirondack chairs that overlook the Sakonnet River/Mt. Hope Bay and that ginormous, brightly colored sign at the front of the shop and it all spells upbeat excursion.
