Shellebrating This Rhode Island Maker Turning Your Fave Beach Keepsakes Into Art

See this content in the original post

The forecast for the forceable future putting a crimp in your July plans? Hello, 10 days of clouds and rain?!? Well, I have a way you can bring a little bit of beach art to your house or office with this local maker’s lovely creations.

These Look Very Spe-SHELL

If you’re at all a fan of Tori Spelling’s ouevre of tell-all memoirs about growing up in LA as the daughter of one of Hollywood’s wealthiest and most successful tv producers of the 1970’s and 80’s (highly recommend btw, even if you didn’t enjoy Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, Dynasty or Love Boat), then you may be familiar with her story about collecting shells on the beach in Malibu when she was a kid.

Apparently she would always find the prettiest ones and lots of them. (Hmmm…seems like something to be filed under too darn good to be legit.)

Years later she found that her mom, who would stand next to her carrying a high end purse and puffing on a cig, was planting those fancy schmancy shells, that they had been stashed in her mother’s handbag the whole time.

I say this because sure, it’s a classic kind of Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous (rip Robin Leach) story, but also because I have a way for you to wow the seashell fan or fans in your orbit — without any of the Candy Spelling level trickery!

Yes, you’ll want to scope out The Shell Shed on Instagram and Etsy for handpainted ones of the highest quality.

They offer a wide variety of oyster and clam shells sourced from right here in Rhode Island featuring marvelous images, from cheery hydrangea and sunflower motifs to oceanic ones with whales, lobsters, sailboats, and the like.

You can even pre-order customized ones with your initials or an image of your own choosing. This bespoke option would be perfect for shower or wedding favors and such, amirite?

As always, if you shop The Shell Shed, please let them know that you heard about them here via Patty J and PattyJ.com.
