The Director Of South County's SeaMist MedSpa Is Talking Skin Care, Local Faves And More

See this content in the original post

I recently had the chance to chat with Dr. Mary Christina Simpson, MD, the owner and medical director at SeaMist MedSpa in South County (anyone who knows me irl knows that skin care is one of my passions), and am ecstatic to spotlight her here.

My RI Life

I have been working as a physician in the South County community since 2008. I feel truly connected to this area, the people, our patients, their health and well being. It was a natural transition for me into aesthetics from women's health because I feel invested in helping women look and feel their best.

Self care is about balancing your internal and external health, which I live and practice to help individuals achieve these goals. Personally, I try to achieve these goals of a work/life balance for myself and my employees.

With my four active, young children, I am involved in their activities and teaching them the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Some of my passions which I enjoy with them include gardening, hiking, world travel, photography and cooking. We also love animals and have several rescues.

I love what I do, I am very excited to see my business grow, and will continue to offer our cutting edge treatments to a larger audience and improve their way of life.

Local Favorites

I love the atmosphere of Matunuck Oyster Bar, sitting out by the water and watching the sunset. We live in such a beautiful state and I try to eat outside whenever I can. If I have a free night, I also like the rooftop at Midtown Oyster Bar on a summer evening. My new favorite place to have business meeting is at Nitro Bar in Newport, right down the street from our Newport medspa location. To stay active, I love the South County Bike Path and in the summer I do the Cliff Walk to gain inspiration from the calmness of the ocean. For a casual lunch, I really enjoy Diego’s in Middletown for their fish tacos. If I’m lucky, I’ll end my day walking the dogs on Misquamicut Beach with my family. On special occasions, such as a date night with my husband, you’ll find us at the Bistro at the iconic Ocean House.

My favorite treatment to perform is a PDO thread lift because it is a non surgical way of treating aging skin by lifting and stimulating your own collagen growth. My patients have minimal down-time and see results without having to take time off of work or sacrificing time with their families. I also love working with multi-modalities in the aesthetics field to help with rejuvenating skin. Some of these include biostimulating medications and radio frequency micro-needling devices which stimulate your own collagen for lasting-long-term natural results.

Favorite Products

I swear by the ZO Growth Factor Serum, I use it every night to help moisturize my face and neck. I also can’t say enough good things about the ZO Exfoliation Polish which helps to clear skin of dead skin cells, creating a nice, gentle glow. Lastly, I can’t be without my comically big 128 oz water bottle: Being on my feet seeing patients all day, I make it my goal to finish it and keep my skin and body healthy with as much water as possible. Your skin health truly comes from a combination of how you nourish it from the inside and out!

I wear the ZO SmartTone Sunscreen every single day. It is perfect for women who don’t wear foundation because it tints to your skin and it gives a glowing, subtle coverage while adding protection.
