We Finally Tried The Newport Pizza Everyone's Loving This Winter

See this content in the original post

The hubs and I FINALLY made it over to Mother Pizzeria in Newport yesterday. It’s on Long Wharf Mall (in the spot formerly occupied by Panera). As I under it, Mother is brought to us by the same team behind Giusto over at Hammett’s, which is just a stone’s throw up the road.

Don’t know about you, but so many people I know (both in real life and in REEL life) have been checking in from there since they opened this past summer and pizza is one of my favorite food groups.

Also, sourdough is supposed to be kinder on the ole tummy. Speaking of which, the name of the restaurant actually comes from the term for “original” sourdough starter, aka, the mother dough.

The interior is quite lovely for starters. It has an elevated, sorta big city attention to detail look and feel, which was further enhanced by a warm, welcoming host and server yesterday afternoon. In other words, don’t be intimidated by the fab ambiance because this is a restaurant that aims to please and will make you feel right at home.

We kept it classic with their margarita pie and they even made a special white pizza for Tom who is trying tio limit red sauce these days due to acid reflux. If you want to go to town and go all out, they have even more sourdough options as well as luscious apps, drinkies, build your own charcuterie board, and more.

But back to that pizza…

The taste is different from a traditional one due to the sourdough crust, but we ADORED. In fact, we wish we loved closer because Mother would be our choice for our weekly Pizza Friday dinners at home. Yes, it’s that yummy.

Cooked to pizza perfection with local mozz in their wood burning oven. An update on an Italian staple that is not to be missed.

Regulars rave about Clam Pizza, Mozz Sticks, the Caesar Salad, and sweets. (We didn’t have room for dessert but I was tempted. Helloooooo, sweet tooth!)

When we were leaving, our wait person also caught up with us outside because Tom had left his BR sunglasses behind. I mean, thank goodness she did that because those weren’t cheap. Lol, but seriously too, ya know?

Find Mother at 49 Long Wharf Mall in Newport, Rhode Island.
