Make A Friday Date To Go Stargazing At This South County Observatory With Your Fav Person

Couple Goals

Searching for something exceptional for your next Friday night out? That will have your significant other actually forgetting about his or her phone for a while. Whatever the reason (you're in a rut, you want to recapture some of that zsa zsa zsu , et cetera), here’s a dreamy destination that first requires you to upgarde the weather app on your smart phone (more about that in a sec…not still relying on the one that comes with your phone, are you?), and then ultimately stashing it for a mesmerizing experience.

Twinkle Lights Are Great, But Have You Ever Been Stargazing?

For only $10 — it’s a suggested donation of $5 per person, you can always give more —  a super affordable and memorable date could be yours.

Afterwards, you can always go somewhere in the vicinity like Sons of Liberty for one of their spiked, warm apple cider drinks.

If you're already in the know, maybe you've guessed I'm talking about Stargazing Friday Nights at Frosty Drew Observatory in Ninigret Park in Charlestown.

After checking multiple weather apps (including Wunderground which is eseentially the Gucci of those kind of apps), it's looking as though this coming Friday is going to be pretty cloudy. Since clear skies are a must, it’s probably best to look ahead to another Friday evening in Oct. or November.

Keep Your Eye On The Stars

You probably won't have to wait hours in line to gain access into the actual Observatory, as people do during the summer months. Another reason to go now. You should also definitely bundle up in your best cold weather attire - because the roof will be open. #brrrrrrrrr

It's a tiny but impactful space in terms of what you'll see via the ginormous Newtonian (telescope) and learn from a knowledgeable crew of astronomers. All under what's supposed to be the darkest skies (an optimal situation for gazing) in Rhode Island.

Prepare to be wowed by, and start geeking out over, the Moon and stars, possibly some shooting stars, galaxy sightings, and a whole lot more.

The cosmos related magic happens every Friday night at around 6pm-ish or after dusk.

So forget the phone fotos, using your flash (It’s actually prohibited.), and just enjoy.

Frosty Drew Observatory & Sky Theater is located at 61 Park Lane, Ninigret Park, Charlestown, RI.
