‘Tis the season to be jolly and group sing-alongs are one of the best ways to start your holiday season.

As a newcomer to Rhode Island, I have had the pleasure of exploring and seeking out all the opportunities I can find to learn more about my new home in Providence. As a big fan of singing, my heart is now set on caroling. Apparently, I will not be disappointed with so many options in the Ocean State and beyond.

On December 6, join Trinity Rep for a community sing in downtown Providence. Folks will meet at the theater located at 201 Washington Street at 5:00 pm and then sing their way to Kennedy Plaza for the annual Christmas tree lighting. Rumor has it our favorite holiday grump, Ebenezer Scrooge will join in the festivities.

The Cumberland-Lincoln Community Choir is presenting its annual holiday offering that always includes a rousing and fun sing-along for the entire family. The group will be performing on December 1 at 3:00pm at Georgiaville Baptist Church in Smithfield; December 8 at 3:00 pm at Wesley United Methodist Church in Lincoln; December 14 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of North Attleboro, MA; and December 15 at 3:00 pm at Trinity Episcopal Church in Wrenthen, MA.

December 13 is yet another evening of caroling fun with the 2nd Annual Caroling in the Village event. Singers will meet at Donovan Park in Warwick at 6:30. Folks will then walk Conimicut Village, singing Christmas carols and spreading holiday cheer. Drinks, cocoa, and cookies will be available after the caroling.

Later in the month, the West Side Caroling group will gather on December 22nd at 5:00 pm in the parking lot adjacent to Loie Fuller located at 1455 Westminster Street to spread holiday cheer around the neighborhood. West Broadway Neighborhood Association serves as a sponsor of this annual event organized by two people who live in the neighborhood.

These are just a few of the fun singing events going on for the holidays and all of these family-friendly events are free! If you want to find more opportunities to sing your heart out, check out this link: https://bit.ly/2rlffuL.

Happy Holidays!
