This Local Designer's Created A Coffee Dress That'll Have You Texting Your Fave Java Fan
After designing womenswear collections for multiple seasons, and having my brand carried in boutiques both nationwide and overseas, I decided to scale back and continue creating accessories while transitioning into showing my wearable art pieces in galleries and museums.

One piece I’m sure you’ll appreciate if you enjoy coffee (as I know both Patty and I do) is the Coffee Dress. I created it with excess in mind.
A lot of my wearable art (this includes my earring line) is created from upcycled fabrics and items we tend to discard daily - I actually collected the filters used to make this dress over the course of a year.
The colors in the dress are variations of stains that were the result of how long each filter sat with coffee grounds on a given day. (I did paint with the coffee in some spots to allow a better transition of ombré in the skirt of the dress).
While collecting the filters, I also experimented with manipulating them, folding, cutting and using placement to create various textural surfaces for the viewer to experience and reflect on.
