It’s feeling more and more like Fall, so you know what THAT means…

There’s certainly no shortage of advice and how-to’s when it comes to purging and organizing the collection of shirts, pants, sweaters, shoes, boots, and maybe belts and hats (Speaking of which, any trucker hats still hiding out in your closet should at this point be jettisoned into the pile of stuff to g-o. PS ~ I always associate those with early aughts Ashton Kutcher, you?) that we call our wardrobes for the new season.

I mean, Google it and you’ll probably find yourself a bit overwhelmed by the sheer amount of info floating around out there.

And who can forget how popular the Konmari method’s been over the last few years?

In theory, I was a fan. IRL, however, the closets - and book shelves - in my house tell a much different story. (PS ~ If you’re in the same boat, this next part will be of interest for sure.)

Before you can run out and buy new hangers or other nifty storage accessories (Did someone say Container Store shopping spree?), you’ll first have to navigate the whole keep, toss, donate dance.

The really great news is that once you figure out what to giveaway, the folks at Big Brothers Big Sisters Of RI will come to your house and pick it up, thus eliminating that extended period (post closet clean out) when you’re driving all over town for what seems like FOREVER with a bazillion bags of stuff in your trunk that you’ve been meaning to drop off. (I mean, who amongst us hasn’t found themselves in THAT situation?)

Sales from your donations of gently used clothing, accessories, housewares, and toys go towards helping BBBS RI help recruit new mentors (also screen and train them), host monthly activities for children and their mentors, provide scholarships for students who have gone thru the program, and a lot more.

And you have options when it comes to setting up a pick up: Go old school and give them a ring at 401-921-2434 or click over to DonateRI.org today to schedule yours.
