RI's Own Sharon Linder Is Back With Why Her 'Get Janes' Gowns Are More Important Than Ever

Sharon Linder started her company Get Janes in 2012 to give women an alternative to traditional hospital gowns and johnnies. Unlike those, her wrap-style ones are soft, lightweight and fit conveniently into a tote (more about THIS in a sec).

I recently checked back in with Sharon to find out how she’s doing these days and like me, she’s been keeping her circle pretty small and “hunkering down” with family (which included a visit from her daughter, her daughter’s wife and her darling granddaughter Bea…the entire fam had quarantined for it for 2 weeks prior btw).

She’s also part of a small pod of friends that see one another outdoors, and she describes herelf as being “fairly vigilant” when it comes to mask wearing.

In addition, Sharon tells me that she’s had 2 in-person doctor visits and an MRI since March and in addition to masking up, she brought along her own Janes gown on all three of those occasions, saying:

“I have been relieved, comforted and (felt) safer knowing what I was wearing was freshly washed from home and had not been worn by anyone else or stacked in an exam room for who knows how long. Patient gowns in hospitals and doctors offices are not sterilized and are handled by many people before they are worn by a patient.”

She says that “taking a Jane (gown) to all medical appointments is not only smart…it is a strategic decision.”

Whether you’re eyeing one for yourself or as a gift for someone in your life who has to naivigate doctor appointments right now, Sharon has a discount code for Patty J readers. Keep scrolling for that, and for a few of Sharon’s local favorites in Little Compton, RI where she’s been staying.

Wishingstone Farm market is my local grocery store. This time of year I love being outside, no humidty! This organic farm is a great destination on a weekend (also open on Wednesdays). I always find amazingly fresh local vegetables. Wishingstone offers incredible baked goods too — breads, cookies and pies. Their pizzas are also some of the best around.

Peckham's Greenhouse, I find...merely walking through the grounds so uplifting. Again, another wonderful outside destination. Walking through the greehouses is a pure tonic for whatever ails me. Peckham's is a stress free zone and the colors this time of year are incredible.

Sweet and Salty Farm is such a surprise. During the time of Covid I order ahead and pick up on weekends. Sweet and Salty farm is on the same road and very close to Wishingstone Farm. A very cool twofer. The cheeses are really creative combinations and fabulous. Sweet and Salty yogurt is like ice cream. A must!
