Monday and coffee go together like Taylor & Burton (friends under the age of 45, please Google, especially if you think it has something to do with T. Swift or Tim Burton), salt and pepper (not to be confused with 80’s and early 90’s hip hop group Salt-N-Pepa), and peanut butter & jelly, so I cannot think of a more perfect day to talk about a new-ish coffeehouse in Westerly that we popped over to yesterday afternoon.

Now if this were 2019, I’d be gushing all about the colorful, funky interior at Junk & Java, but these days I am doing only outdoor dining. We did walk thru the actual shop — which is how I quickly snapped the photo above — but all doors were open, masks and social distancing were in play, and they had a glass shield up at the counter where we placed our order. (More about their outside seating in a sec because it’s adorbs.)

Instead of coffee, we went with hot chocolate. I mean, is there anything better on a chilly November day or night? And I ordered a corn muffin because (frankly) never met a carb I didn’t like.

Now for their side seating area: In addition to being decked out with string lights (they just make everything cozier and more inviting) and lotsa Rhody rustic touches, their outside patio has mushroom heaters and a mini gas fireplace, making it a marvelous spot for some java or a nosh next time you are in the area.

PS - Whilst there, we also met a cute little dog named Sunny.
