3 Christmassy And Local-ish Things You Can Do To Get Into The Holiday Spirit

It’s Cyber Monday and I’ve already deleted a gazillion emails. If, like me, you’re looking for ways you can keep things Christmassy and more local-ish, even though we’ve hit pause for the next two weeks, I have three suggestions that (I believe) check all the boxes when it comes to keeping things outdoors, staying socially distanced, and such.

O Christmas Tree

An artificial tree or wreath just isn’t going to cut it this time around. Or maybe you’re in the market for more decorations? If there ever was a year to go overboard with a fresh Balsam fir topped off with lotsa shiny things, it’s this one!

We stopped at Clark Farms in Matunuck yesterday and they had a really nice selection of ornaments, merry holiday wreaths (we bought one as a gift for someone) for your front door or above the fireplace, and of course, charming Christmas trees waiting to go home with you.

PS - For the record, there was plenty of air flow inside the greenhouse where they have most of their decorations on display thanks to open doors. Also, everyone was masked up and they ask that you do the same whilst there.

Sweet Dreams Are Actually Made Of These

Sweenor’s, the oldest-still-in-operation chocolate maker in Rhode Island, is unfortunately not going to be able to host their annual holiday open house this year because of the pandemic.

Sad as that is, you can still get your hands on their scrumptious sweets including their much loved, brightly colored candy canes. (So festive!)

They recommend calling ahead with your order and then it’s as easy as setting up curbside pick-up at either their original shop in Wakefield or their Garden City Cranston location.

Make It Rein With Holiday Cheer

In person Santa’s might be taking a pause this season, but you can still get your photo with one of his reindeer. Namely, the one at the Gazebo in Garden City Center that also features multiple xmas trees, lights, wreaths and the like. Okay, this one’s been fashioned from Fraser or Douglas fir, but it still makes for a cute, open air photo op right now.
