We Took An Awesome Christmas Carriage Ride In This Local RI Village

Hay, friends!

Yesterday we had our private horse drawn carriage ride in Wickford: it was a cheery and completely entertaining half hour of clippity clopping through the picturesque main and side roads of my favorite local village. Now, normally over the holidays, our friends at New Deal Horse & Carriage (who have been in business for about 20 years) offer things like group hay rides, but as you already know, this is a much different (sad face) year.

You may recall that a few weeks ago, I hopped online and purchased our ride as soon as I saw a new date had become available. I mean, no matter the year, these open air experiences in and around North Kingstown tend to sell out pretty quickly. In 2018, for example, my very good friend C. and I were fortunate enough to grab the last 2 spots on a Halloween themed group tour that they were doing in conjunction with town historian Tim Cranston. (Also, check out one of the many books T.C.’s written; they would make a marvelous gift for the Rhode Island history fan in your life this Christmas.)

Now as someone who on average visits The Wick about once a week, let me say that I learned a lot of new things during our ride on Sunday, tidbits about various houses and the landscape there that I had never ever heard before, which (for me) is always a real treat.

And I think that they might be announcing more dates in December, so if this is something you want to do with other folks in your household right now (the $75 fee covers parties up to 4 people from the same house), I suggest keeping an eye on the NDHC Facebook Page.
