This Newport County Juicery And Plant Based Cafe Is Now Delivering & It's The Best News

There’s a lot of buzz about supplements to consider taking right now, with an eye towards keeping immune systems in tiptop shape, staying well, and so on.

I’ve been seeing people posting about Zinc, Vitamin D, and no surprise, old faithful (Linus Pauling would be proud!) Vitamin C.

Honestly, there’s so much to stress about during this pandemic, the idea of popping vitamins on the regular has, for me, faded into the background.

Just the other day I was thinking about how much listening to podcasts and music and messaging with friends via my phone has helped me stay relatively calm over the last 6 or so weeks.

Well, I spoke way too soon, way too soon in fact — because as of late yesterday, my phone is donesville. It’s kaput (sad face), you guys.

Try being stuck at home without a working smart phone, it’s not fun and I def don’t recommend. As a matter of fact, I typed this whilst on an extended (hours long) hold with my cell carrier.

Before this terribly inconvenient development, I had also been focusing on taking daily walks, turning off the news at night, and eating simply, with as many vegetables on the menu and on the table as possible (although fresh fruits and veggies are getting increasingly difficult to come by these days).

Like most everyone else, I miss restaurants, everything about the whole dining somewhere-other-than-my-own-home experience really. With that in mind, and because my husband, who is isolating elsewhere since he’s still working in an office setting, agreed to no contact pickup my order, I dialed up The Power Of Juice (also known as TPOJ) in Middletown and ordered a few things I’ve been craving: fresh juice, meat free soups (try finding some made without chicken broth, it’s far from easy), and something sweet yet healthy-ish.

So, online I went and picked out their Morning Glory Juice, three different soups, some fizzy water, and their avocado and chocolate pudding (Kourtney K., Elle Macpherson, and Tom Brady would all approve, I think) appropriately named Not Your Mother’s Mousse (although my mom never made mousse, she made Jello Pudding and Bundt cakes).

The really good news is that while I was attending to phone drama and putting the finishing touches on this post, the folks at TPOJ announced that they will now be offering contact-less delivery in Middletown, Portsmouth, and Newport.

Huzzah!

Something to smile about. (It must be Monday, Spring 2020, if you’ve been crying on and off the landline since 6am.)
