Instant's Having An IG Moment But Reg Coffee From These RI Companies Is The Way To Go

A few weeks ago, lotsa IG’ers and FB’ers — including Lizzo (Truth Hurts is perfect for your quarantine lip synch list, just throwing that out there.) — were posting their attempts at something called dalgona, or whipped, coffee.

Social has since moved on to the news that Gigi and Zayn (Hadid and Malik) are having a baby and face mask selfies, but I want to circle back to the frothy trend because the main ingredient is in fact (brace yourself) instant coffee.

Well, regardless of what Chrissie Hynde recently shared over on her official Facebook about Patti Smith, Sam Shepherd, not being a coffee snob, and embracing “powdered coffee,” I’m here to say no, just NO!

(Side bar, if you are a 70’s baby, you’ll probably recall how Sanka and its very orange label were pretty ubiquitous back then. For the record, because I feel like it needs to be shared right here and right now, my mom preferred Maxwell House Original Roast brewed up in a Farberware brand percolator.)

Quarantine or not, I beg you to put down the instant and consider some bags of beans, or ground, from one or more Rhody based coffee purveyors.

There are a number of options that involve either curbside pickup or home delivery, including from these highly recognizable names:

  • New Harvest in Pawtucket is selling at outdoor farmers markets, but you can also call in an order and pick up at Hope Artiste. Furthermore, if you’ve joined Feast & Fettle, you can always add some NH coffee, including their Snapchilled in a can, to your next meal delivery.

  • Dave’s is offering online ordering and contact less pickup at their 3 Rhody locations via their app. Yesss, they now have their own app. 👏 👏 👏(Side bar, I ADORE my Dave’s coffee mugs.)

  • The SHOP at Fox Point is apparently on something called Cloosiv.com (not ringing any bells) which enables them to deliver coffee, pastries, and groceries to anyone living in that neck of the city.

That’s all for now.

Stay safe and stay well,
