This French Bakery And Restaurant In PVD Is Open With Patio Seating & Wow

Je suis de retour à Providence…provided there’s some kind of patio situation, that is.

And the food and new al fresco set-up at Ellie’s on Weybosset?

C’est un vrai délice.

I mean, if you’re looking for a delicious excuse to get out of the house some day soon, and maybe channel your inner Caroline de Maigret, Juliette Greco or Guillaume Canet, it’s still very do-able right now.

Also, because frankly, a getaway to France is off the menu for the immediate future. (Humble brag…My first trip to Paris I went out to dinner and who was holding court at a large table in an A+ location in the restaurant but DVF herself…The waiter later proceeded to rant about how they didn’t have any Coca Cola for me, which was both funny haha and funny strange because I have never ever been a soda drinker, but guess they associate Americans with the guzzling of soft drinks. #rudefrenchwaiterstories)

Sunday In Providence At Ellie’s

Sunday In Providence At Ellie’s

So, we sadly missed out on the blueberry and lemon croissants that Ellie’s had posted about the other day on Insta (two words: sold out).

Beyond that minor disappointment, though, our meal was superb.

About an hour before heading over to PVD, I had gone to their site and ordered a bunch of things (I like options) for myself and the hubs from their online menu, including their Brie Sandwich (without the hazelnuts), their Quiche (with a side salad), the Green Goddess Salad (so, so FRESH!), an iced coffee, a hot tea, a box of their signature French macaroons (the IG food blogger in your circle will want in on those), and a bouquet of colorful flowers from Moonrose Farm.

We also scooped up a lovely looking Tiramisu cake for my brother’s birthday that was a pastry epiphany —light and incredibly delish.

Let me just say that it is also a sweet way to spend a few hours, so much more pleasant and enjoyable than, say, fighting beach traffic or doing yard work.

You won’t need a beret, a striped t-shirt from Saint James or a pair of tortoise shades or sunnies (wink, wink) to pick up your order. You will, however, need a mask or face covering.

PS ~ They are now open Thursday thru Sunday and are also offering Family Meals At Home (aka, dinners to go) these days.
