Sunny And 90 Degrees

After a false start a few weeks ago (we had driven to a flower farm in Bristol County on a gray, rainy day, only to find it was too early), happy to announce that sunflowers are in full bloom this week in Rhode Island.

Now, it may not have been the wisest idea to drag my husband who is allergic to bees yet refuses to carry an Epi Pen (ughhh) to an Insta Famous sunflower field in Johnston yesterday, but ultimately our visit went smoothly and without incident.

For the record, though, I thought it was best for him to socially distance himself from the sunflowers, where the bees yesterday were partying like it was 1999. (Hey, great for them, but not so much for us, ya know?)

Whether you follow Rhody blog royalty KJP and his wife Sarah Vickers who have done a number of photoshoots for Instagram there or (like me) you’re just looking for some fun-tastic outdoor activities this season, this Brown Street farm and orchard, across from wildly popular Wicked Tulips Farm, definitely deserves a spot on your July or August agenda.

Stand Tall And Face The Sun

If you want to walk the fields, and take some phone photos of course , at Dame Farm, tickets are a reasonable $7 per person and they do take plastic.

You can also sign up to pick your own sunflowers (or blueberries) right now, too.

We opted for the tix and phone photos route.

Then, later on, we went back up to the stand store where we purchased a gorgeous bunch of different color sunnies for my momma. (Who knew there were white and deep purple hued ones?)

Solid Gold

Also, I did notice that since I was there last, Dame has expanded in a major way.

They have two separate sunflower fields and another adjacent area where they are growing colorful blooms that (I guarantee) you will want to snap tons of pics of. Definitely make certain your phone’s charged up and ready.

And I think everyone else was at the beach yesterday afternoon around 3 o’clock because (hurrah) we pretty much had the grounds all to ourselves.

Check out their site for complete details, so you can plan a morning or afternoon there.
