I was first introduced to The Beehive Cafe in Bristol five years ago by an intern who was helping out behind the scenes during that very first summer of the blog, and have absolutely loved it ever since.

The hubs and I actually tried to get a table for lunch there back in January (pre-masking and pandemic), but they were so darn busy that we gave up and went elsewhere.

Yesterday, we went back for some al fresco dining (the rain had let up a bit at that point, thankfully) on their upper deck, which on a sunnier day has swell views of the harbor, and the food and service were incredible!

My order, a butternut squash cornbread with some eggs and toast on the side, was the kind of hearty, thoughfully prepared dish that will have you hooked. I know I’m going back again real soon for more because it checked all the boxes: Helloooo tasty, generous portions, and made with tippity top quality ingredients!

My friend Pam, the amazing nurse and aesthetician behind the award winning (and made in Rhode Island) Octovie Skin Brush, loves to go to the Beehive for a nice brunch after riding on the nearby East Bay Bike Path.

It also happens to be a favorite of more than a few Trinity Rep actors I’ve spoken with over these last few years, as well as a number of peeps I worked with at PVD Nordstrom back in the day.

So, motor over to Franklin Avenue (right near Independence Park and Bristol Harbor by the way) and mask up in order to order and get your hands on some of the best casual eats in that part of the state.

For updates, you’ll want to follow The Beehive on Insta.
