This Art Installation Meets Garden In PVD Is Back Again, And It's Marvelous

Last Night At Ten Thousand Suns In Providence

The sunflowers at 10,000 Suns are blooming!

The combination art installation and urban garden that first took root about 5 years ago with a Go Fund Me campaign created by Providence-based landscape architect A.E. Anderson is back again this year — and we have never needed it MORE!

Mr. Anderson, with help from a group of local volunteers, has spent every spring since 2015 prepping that piece of land, planting seeds and watering.

This year I’d seen something online that had led me to believe that the temporary park and botanical garden would not be popping up, but happy to say that turned out NOT to be the case.

Fast forward to people from all over the state still flocking to the land between South Water and South Main for photos for social media.

There was a small group last night, but everyone was doing a fantastic job of masking and staying distanced (in case you were concerned).

It’s Me.

It’s Me.

Search hashtags 10000 Suns or 10000 Suns Providence over on Instagram right now and you'll see so many images already popping up. From couples to families to just the flowers with a cityscape background that includes the iconic Superman Building.

Expect a lot more in the coming weeks, with a key photo opp revolving around the Providence skyline as a backdrop and a certain red wooden chair, a familiar prop that turns up every single year.

So, charge up your phone, grab your mask, and try your luck at photos starting this week.
