3 Classic Spots In Rhode Island For Delicious Non Dairy Ice Cream This Summer

A cold treat that it turns out is anything but a trend IS dairy free or vegan ice cream.

Before those of you who live for the traditional stuff click over to the Daily Mail to catch up on the latest news on “Bennifer, The Next Chapter” (JLO and Ben Affleck have ***allegedly*** rekindled their romance from the early aughts, remember the stunning pink diamond engagement ring he gave her), allow me to explain.

I've had the vanilla at Wildflour in Pawtucket (their “ice cream” is made in house and coconut based) in the past and would not stop gushing about it: So tasty it could even fool that persnickety person you know who turns up their nose — bristles even — at the mere mention of the word VEGAN.

It's also fab for anyone who's lactose intolerant (I know quite a few people who outta nowhere suddenly developed lactose issues in their 40's, 50’s and beyond) and has problems digesting ice cream. I mean, there's nothing remotely fun or stylish about being bloated, gassy or (yikes) both.

A short walk down the street from WF over on Hope Street is Three Sisters, a neighborhood and cult fave in Providence that’s built quite the following because of the deliciousness of their handmade and small batch ice cream. While the majority of their menu is dairy based, with unexpected yet entirely enchanting flavors like Dirty Garden Mint, there are (applause, applause)non-dairy specials that pop up now and again. Be on the lookout!

Another amazing option not far from WF and TS is Like No Udder, which up until a few yrs ago was strictly a food truck type operation. They have a brick and mortar shop over on Ives Street nowadays with lots of options, from soft serve and hard “ice cream” to shakes and cold treats for dogs (because circa 2021 dogs are STILL the new kids, righttt?). All of which are nut based yet guaranteed to satisfy all your ic cravings this summer. Also, hot tip, one of the semi-regular contributors to this blog swears by their cashew milk Almond Joy flavor.

As always, if you visit one of these fine establishments for non dairy frozen treats after reading this, please let them know you heard about them via Patty J and PattyJ.com.
