Catching Up With My Great Friend S. Last Week (All Photos Are By Lisette Rooney Photography.)

My Favorite Way To Rise Above It All? Rooftops.

We’ve been hanging out on the rooftop at the Hotel Viking since 2016, but this season in particular a day or night out at Top of Newport Bar + Kitchen is especially sweet!

I mean, after last year and all…

As if you need more reasons to take yourself and your inner circle to one of the prettiest outside spaces in Rhode Island to celebrate the unofficial beginning of summer and even brighter days ahead.

Thought I’d offer a quick little refresher, though, especially because I was there last week with my old friend S. (we met when we both worked at the now defunct Nordstrom Providence Place) and we had an absolute blast.

First off, it’s a fantastic spot to sip a colorful cocktail (or wine, beer, a sparkling water) and watch a sunset.

Who amongst us couldn’t use some spirited (lol) moments of zen rn? And a cheese board? (We got the one with assorted cheeses, nuts, jam and classic water crackers.)

In addition, it’s a marvelous excuse to pull out your Summer with a capital S Whites or Navy (and yet there I am in head-to-toe black), a pair Jack Rogers sandals (Jackie O. put them on the map back in 1961 in Palm Beach when she started sporting them) or a new pair of sunglasses.

Also, helloooo, romance! You can surprise your sweetheart by taking them there on a Newport date night extravaganza.

You’ll get tons of bonus points with your beloved and it’s way, WAY more fun than another evening of scrolling your phones in front of the tv.

Top Of Newport at the Hotel Viking is open Friday thru Sunday, from 4pm to sunset. You’ll definitely want to call for reservations at (401) 847-3300.

As always, if you find yourself cheersing at the Top with your your friend group or s.o. after reading this, please let them know you found out about them via Patty J and PattyJ.com.
