3 Fantastic Storefronts In The Wick That You'll Want To Frequent This Summer

Star Sightings And Shopping Small In NK

Kyra and Kevin loved it so much that they filmed their new movie there, but we, you and I, have known about it for “like” ever. I’m talking of course about The Wick or historic Wickford Village in North Kingstown. (And for the record, I was there for day 1 of filming in and around the gazebo.)

Anywho, no sign of any filmmaking going on the other day. I did, however, explore three (3) new-to-me shops in the area of Brown and Main Streets that I think you’ll want to peruse this summer.

Go fish at this charmingly appealing shop on Main Street in Wickford. Pretty sure FlatFish Cottage is new this year. You can grab everything from a Yacht Club Soda (they’re the official soda of Little Rhody, ya know, and there’s nothing better on a humid day around here) and a sturdy canvas boating tote in a variety of classic NE colors to fetching hostess or new baby gifts. It really is an enchanting spot that you have to see irl to fully appreciate. In fact, it’s tailor made for your next Instagram Reel or Story.

Next on the docket? Vanessa Piche, right next door at 10 Main Street. She is an artist and most of the time you’ll find her live painting right in the shop. The clothing and accessories are all inspired by her paintings and sketches, with the tag line “Art You Love To Live In.” My tippity top pick has to be the children’s tees and onesies featuring her dog and his boy characters Dune And Nash. If that doesn’t float your boat, there are tons of other neat things to browse and buy including prints and cards.

If you don’t frequent EG on the reg, you might not be acquainted with Sprigs, a flower, plant and gift shop. Open since 2013 their 2nd storefront in Wickford, as far as I’m concerned, is something of an under the radar treasure that doesn’t get nearly enough attention and love online. Tucked away near Tavern By The Sea (love their patio whilst we’re on the subject) restaurant, it is a welcoming mix of greenery, cards, costume jewelry, and other extremely covetable objects. I picked up a sweet onesie for my new grand-niece and saw at least another dozen items I desperately wanted to buy.

As always, if you shop any of these local RI businesses after reading this, do let them know you heard about them via Patty J and PattyJ.com.
