So Many Rhode Islanders Say This Italian Restaurant In Providence Is Their Favorite

Sure, they’ve been open since 2002, but we’ve only recently rediscovered them. (I vaguely remember a family birthday party 5 or 6 years ago? It’s also a PVD go-to of several people whose opinions, dare I say, I happen to respect.)

Anywho, this Southern Italian inspired and entirely lovely little eatery (the exterior is like somewhere you might stumble upon whilst on a vacay on the Amalfi Coast) on the main thoroughfare of Providence’s version of “Little Italy” is cooking up some amazing food.

I say this because we have gotten takeout from Pane E Vino no less than three (3) times in the last 5 or 6 weeks, and the food has been five star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ every single time.

First off, my Italian American momma who grew up on The Hill gives everything two thumbs up. I mean, that’s major, amirite? (Sadly I did not learn how to make gravy or homemade meatballs, but my sister and her older daughter can carry on those traditions.)

And in case you are curious, one of my mom’s favorites is their Linguine Alle Vongole or linguine with clams. (See photo below.)

Now, as I’ve said before, I don’t eat meat, but absolutely adore their pastas (Linguine Alla Putanesca and Maccheroncini With Pink Sauce both come to mind), salads, eggplant parm, focaccia bread, and potato cakes.

So, so good and very close to homemade in my book: Never too salty, greasy or buried under way too much cheese — three situations that we’ve all unfortunately encountered when ordering out or going out to dinner at one time or another.

Can’t wait to actually go for an in-person supper this fall.

Find Pane E Vino at 365 Atwells Avenue. Check them out on IG @PaneVinoProv.
