We Visited A Cat Cafe In Tiverton, Rhode Island, And It Was Just Purr-fect

Where It’s Always Caturday

Text the cat lover in your circle because they will definitely want to check out the new-ish (open since August of 2021) Bajah’s Cat Cafe, A Purr-fect Place at 137 Main Road in Tiverton.

My friend Karen and I motored over, and I was very impressed with the entire experience.

First off, you don’t need a reservation to pop into the cafe part, but if you want to spend time in The Cat Room (yes, the adorable cats who are from a local animal rescue are in a completely separate area, lest you thought they were climbing on tables or counters or something), you will need to book a window.

Thank goodness when we arrived, Karen was able to reserve something for us. (Before going in, you may either remove your shoes or wipe the bottoms on a mat that’s been treated with water and bleach. This is a precaution to prevent anyone from tracking anything into the room that could be harmful to the cats.)

Now, The Cat Room and the Cafe were both spotless and sparkling clean.

I also LOVE that the owner Amanda is all about offering locally made food, drink, and cat art: I mean, the coffee is New Harvest. And I was jazzed to see vegan donuts from local Rhody makers The Donut Shop. Meow-over, the walls are also lined with kitty-cat portraits by area artists.

Before I forget, I do want to make sure to mention that since they opened last year, Bajah’s has helped facilitate over 76 cat adoptions, which is pretty darn great. (PS - As of today, that number is probably way higher!)

There were 5 or 6 cats the day we were there and Karen was this close to filling out paperwork to apply to adopt one. (She didn’t, though, because she already has a cat at home.)

Before hitting the road, we ordered two of their signature Kitty-ccinos (half coffee, half hot chocolate), two Bajah’s mugs, and a coffee cake muffin to split.

Karen even picked up a black beanie with the word MEOW on the front. Keep scrolling to see a photo of tht hat.

On our way out, we saw a couple applying to adopt one of the kitties, which just goes to show what I’ll call the Bajah’s effect in action.

Another fun observation? Amanda has a everything from a cat-centric book club to trivia nights and meditation events on the calender.

For regular updates and happenings, definitely follow their Insta.
