The Pawtucket Restaurant That Has People Lining Up Out The Door

When someone tipped me off about some outrageously good cheesy rolls (also known as, pan de bono…aka, Colombian bagels) in Pawtucket, knew I had to get there…and soon.

That was back in 2016.

The great news is that Caprichos Antioquenos (a 2nd generation, family run bakery and restaurant on Lonsdale Avenue) is still going strong, and if it’s possible, busier than ever.

We were there the other day and the line was practically out the door.

Lots of people eating in and taking out.

All sorts of hot food. Baked Goods. Bread.

There are no menus in the traditional sense, but that didn’t seem to be an issue.

The ladies behind the counter were quick, friendly, and efficient — and the line moved, so really the wait was minimal.

A friend of mine’s son apparently goes all the time and indulges in plate after plate of empanadas.

Beyond the empanadas, regulars gush about their cafe con leche (coffee with milk), bunelos (round, fried bread), tres leche (frosted sponge cake), and flan.

And those pan de bonos are as delish as ever!

You can eat them right out of the bag (as I did) or the more traditional way, seated somewhere, dipping them into a cuppa hot chocolate or coffee.

Find Caprichos Antioquenos at 173 Lonsdale Avenue in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
