We Visited This Delicious Italian Cafe In Newport, Rhode Island And Wow

the other day at MOZZ

When my friend T. said he had gone to this great Italian cafe in Newport recently with his girlfriend, I knew I had to get there and fast.

Well, the other day, the hubs and I motored over to MOZZ on Bellevue Avenue (in the Bellevue Gardens Shopping Plaza) and let me tell you, it is absolutely dream-y!

Just like an Italian holiday in the middle of NPT.

A blending of old time culinary traditions with a more modern day European sensibility when it comes to the interior and the overall aesthetic, if you will.

It’s part coffee bar, part cafe (the freshly made pizzas, paninis and frittatas behind the glass were so tempting), and part Mediterranean marketplace.

Also worth noting…one of the owners (the husband of this husband and wife operation) hopped on the coffee machine and made the espresso you see above.

Helloooo, fantastic service!

Shopping The Market There 🍅

After our drinks were brought over, I couldn’t sit still. (Maybe it was the espresso, lol?)

I had to get up and shop the market section which stretches across the back of the space and includes an impressive selection of pasta, sweets, oils, vinegars, and even more, all from Italy.

They also carry more LOCAL items like Newport Sea Salt and Ooma Tesoro’s sauce (handmade in the Berkshires).

I walked out with a jar of that sauce, a box of Cipriani pasta, a big bag of Italian cookies, and some Italian flag cookies by a Rhody maker (whose name I can’t recall, apologies).

The Counter At MOZZ

Wish I had taken more photos, so words will have to do for right now.

MOZZ is unlike any other Italian cafe I’ve been to in Rhode Island and it truly feels like you’re out for a coffee break or lunch in Rome.

Just adore the look and Old World energy of this welcoming yet chic spot (I could see Sophia or even Stanley Tucci stopping when visiting Rhode Island), and I can’t wait to go back for pizza. Seriously.
