A Mini Guide To Block Island And Beyond Courtesy Of This Rhode Island Native

It’s July in the Ocean State…

So, let’s dish about some CLASSIC summertime spots in Rhode Island, courtesy of Rhody native, photographer, and friend of the blog Stacey Doyle.

She’s sharing her go-to’s on The Block (aka, Block Island) and off island, as well as some absolutely gorgeous photos from her personal archive.

Block Island

My absolute summer fave is Block Island. Quick ferry ride and so many great places to enjoy! I always grab a bike rental as soon as I arrive. Drinks on the patio or on the lawn at the Spring HouseMohegan Bluffs, apps on the porch or fireside at the National Hotel, and local art and inspiration at the Lightburne Cottage Gallery (they are temporarily closed as of today but fingers crossed they reopen soon).

After a long day of biking, I'd suggest one of these fab spots for food and drink — Poor People's Pub, Dead Eye Dick's or The Oar. For late night dancing it’s The Yellow Kittens.

Off Island

The Hot Club is a must: It doesn't feel like summer if you haven’t lounged on their deck for a long afternoon, enjoying the city and water views (along with a dark & stormy). A lobster roll (or 14) and clam cakes — So many great spots throughout RI! • Take a walk in the Elmhurst area and head to Newport Creamery for a scoop or two.Cocktails, friends and people watching at Finn's Harborside  Always a hoot! Wine tasting at Diamond Hill Vineyard in Cumberland and Carolyn's Sakonnet Vineyard in Little Compton
