The Flan At This Restaurant In Cranston's Little Italy Is Just Fantastic

Return visit to Iannuccillin Cranston the other day and we (my friend Alexia from U Had Me At Kitchen) actually got to break bread with the legendary owner/proprietor Nick Iannuccilli himself, which was an absolute honor and thrill.

If you were living here in Rhode Island in the 90’s, you may remember his Florentine Grille in North Providence. Ohhhh, the fond memories of those amongst us who were lucky enough to have dined there! (I hear from the foodies in my orbit that it was ahead of its time in a number of ways, including having a pizza oven imported directly from Italy. That was unheard of back then.)

If you haven’t been to his cozy Italian bistro in the Knightsville neighborhood (aka, Cranston’s Little Italy), you are missing out on some of the freshest and most scrumptious (made in house) pasta, salads, parms, veggies, calamari, meatballs, and more on the East Coast…if not the entire country.

Getting a table might be a bit challenging but believe you me, it is worth your while.

Yes, the food and service are that FANTASTIC: You don’t need to book that culinary tour of Northern Italy, just motor over to 1791 Cranston Street in Cranston.

I also hear they’re going to be featuring some pasta specials with in-season veggies soon and as a flexible vegetarian (quasi pescatarian) this is sweet music to my ears.

Speaking of sweet, I’m actually here to say that I FINALLY tried the flan and bread pudding from their dessert menu that day.

Both are thoughtfully prepared by Nick’s enchanting wife and fans of the restaurant (I mean, who isn’t?) live for these after-din-din treats.

As a matter of fact, whenever I mention Iannuccilli to friends, family and strangers, they all bring up that FLAN.

Just know these were some of the yummiest desserts I’ve ever eaten in my whole entire life.

Every bite is a flavorful medley of caramel, cream, and vanilla.

Don’t leave without ordering. Tom and I did the last time we were there for supper and I’d been regretting it ever since.
