A Charming Diner In South Kingstown For Coffee And Breakfast All Day

Your Rhode Island Bestie finally visited Meldgie’s Rivers Edge Cafe in Wakefield the other day.

This is a charming, old school diner (you almost expect Flo to breeze over, gum a-snappin, to take your order), set back from Main Street and frequented by the locals in a big way. They were actually quite busy on a Monday, always a great sign!

Think unlimited hot coffee, ginormous pancakes and breakfast all day, and fresh baked pie (that they get by way of the coffeehouse next door, Arabella’s, but that’s another story for another day).

Regulars rave about their affordable prices, how fresh everything is, Johnny Cakes (a RI delicacy, in the pancake family, only made with cornmeal instead of wheat flour), their benedicts, and their burgers.

A splendid spot for casual dining in South County with your S.O. or the fam.

Also, they’re open seven (7) days a week — Monday through Saturday 6:30am to 2pm, and Sundays 7am to 1:30pm.

Find Meldgie’s at 406 B Main Street in Wakefield, Rhode Island. (Again, they are set back from the road in a little plaza with the coffeehouse and a consignment shop.)
