Favorite Rhode Island Spots For Hot Chocolate This Winter
We woke up here in Lil Rhody to news of snow in tonite’s forecast, and a feel like temp of 15 degrees Fahrenheit. No better time then to dip into my top two (2) hot chocolates of 2025 and one (1) that I wish was still available.
Let’s start things off with the decadent Truffle Hot Chocolate at Madrid European Bakery on Wayland Square in Providence. (They also have a second location in Barrington, Rhode Island.)
It’s the ultimate chocolate treat in PVD this winter, and it will make you feel, even if only for a minute, like you’re wintering in Europe where they take cafe life and hc to a whole other level.
Next it’s on to the Gansett Craft Chocolate in Wakefield for their European style hot chocolate which is made with their signature bean-to-bar chocolate and topped with made-in-house whipped cream.
Go this week because they’re closed for winter break January 3 through the 13th, and I can’t think of sweeter way to start out 2026.
Also, full disclosure, I actually had a third pick, which was made by Hard Pressed Cider Company at the Farmer’s Daughter Christmas Tree Farm in South Kingstown. Unfortunately they are now closed for the szn.
Do keep an eye on the Hard Pressed Cider IG though because there’s talk of them opening up their own cider mill in West Greenwich in the new year.
What’s your favorite (local Rhode Island) hot choc? What cafes did we miss?
