3 Low Key Tourist-y Things You'll Want To Add To Your Newport Summer Agenda

Martha Stewart at the Flower Show at Rosecliff a few weeks ago. Eva Chen checking in from Gurney's this past weekend. And yesterday, Jay Leno in his signature denim work shirt was spotted at Fort Adams. It's peak season in Newport for celeb spotting, weddings (I went to a gorgeous one last night at Rosecliff!), and a little sightseeing. So grab your sunnies and your Jack Rogers sandals (I've taken to calling them Jackie Rogers because they were a go-to summer shoe for the one and only Jackie O.) and join me on a mini tour of a few more places to scope out in the City By The Sea.

1. Picnic - Looking for a super cute bakery and cafe for coffee and maybe a sandwich or pastry? Of course you are! Directly across from The Viking, and with extended hours this summer, it's worth a pop in next time you're in the vicinity and in need of a coffeesesh. They even have coconut milk for your latte, which in my book is groundbreaking stuff dietary and plant based eating wise.

2. Touring - Before our fascination with Meghan Markle (and that Markle Sparkle!), American actress and lifestyle blogger turned British Royalty, there was Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis, debutante and photo journalist turned American Royalty. Take the Return To Camelot Tour celebrating the 1953 wedding of Jacklyn Bouvier and John Fitzgerald Kennedy (that many, including this blogger, might describe as the American version of a Royal Wedding) at the historic St Mary's church over on William St.

3. Kiel James Patrick, The Store - Because whether we admit it or not, we're all just a little curious about what KJP, the original Rhody-based superstar influencer, is doing. This is the 2nd year for his flagship in Newport, so why not peruse the selection of bracelets, belts, and other New England preppie inspired attire and accessories? Also, you really can't call yourself a RI'er (whether by birth or a relocation) without wading thru the throngs of people that converge on Banister's Wharf in the month of July at least once. It's a must!
