I know we haven’t even put Thanksgiving to bed yet, but news flash…Christmas is indeed loading!

Fa la la festive music abounds at Sirius Radio, with no less than ten channels this year, everything from acoustic and country to Holiday Pops and (Are you surprised?) one dedicated solely to all things Hallmark. For the record, I really haven’t tuned in, but that could change this week, depending on my mood.

Yesterday, I spied a row of fresh trees propped up outside WFM Cranston, ready and waiting to go home with all the Rhodie Whole Foodies rushing in for organic produce and Allegro coffee. (Me personally? I love a real tree, but somehow I’ve found myself surrounded by people who are all singing the praises of the faux ones. Ughhh.)

And this coming weekend around Rhode Island, the holiday market scene is ON in a big way. It’s a blink and you’ll miss it kinda opportunity to shop local for everyone on your nice list. So, why not grab your reusable shopping bags - and your bestie who adores this time of year (you know, they have the halls decked and a tree up on “like” Nov. 1st) - and G-O?

Here are a few of the most highly anticipated ones happening this Saturday and Sunday:

  1. Christmas in the Barn, Nov. 23rd and 24th, 10am to 5pm: True story, last year I made my way over to East Greenwich for this and couldn’t believe how crazy busy it was. (I was shook!) If you want to experience this Rhody rustic, once-a-year extravaganza, you’ll want to plan ahead and get there early.

  2. The Made On Honor Market, Nov. 23 and 24, 12noon to 6pm: The peeps from Narragansett Beer are hosting this fete featuring so many of your favorite local makers (including JAVA Skin Care, Hometown Poke, New Harvest, Newport Sea Salt, and tons more!!!) at the WaterFire Arts Center on Valley Street in Providence. It sounds absolutely fantastic.

  3. Arcade Popup Farmers & Artisans Market, Sunday Nov. 24th from 11am to 3pm: Okay, there’s just something about strolling this oldest in the country and still in operation indoor mall downcity. Especially during the holiday season. I’ve been to this market in the past and they always have an intriguing mix of food, drink, and vintage merch to peruse. Also, the hot chocolate at New Harvest! We had some the other night and it was quite good. (PS ~ If you miss this Sunday’s, don’t despair because the Arcade has another coming up in December. Check their social for more details.)
