We Just Got Tix To This Christmas In Wickford Tradition And I Cannot Wait
A family down the street had their Christmas tree up in the front window back in October.
Me? I’ve had “Do They Know It’s Christmas” (one of the best xmas songs of the 20th century, in my humble opinion) on repeat on Spotify for the last 2 or 3 weeks.
This year’s been a doozy (helloooo, understatement), so unpacking decorations, wreath making, stringing up twinkle lights, or tree-shaped-cookie baking are all welcome distractions.
If you’re looking for something classic, local and out of doors to do in December to help you embrace your inner Buddy Elf (not an easy task ty), or at least fill your feeds with some seasonal cheer, you’re come to the right place.
As I sit here, on my second mini pack of Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies (the organic fanatic’s answer to Pepperidge Farm Goldfish), I want to tell you that I just purchased passes to an outdoor Christmas tradition in Rhode Island that I’ve been wanting to take part in for “like” ever.
Yes, I’m talking about a private horse drawn carriage ride thru Wickford Village with the folks from New Deal Horse & Carriage.
It’s a quaint, old-worldy kinda way to experience Christmastime in my all time favorite RI Village. (Side bar: They’ve really gone all out this year in terms of light displays and other festive decor, but that’s another post I’ll be rolling out soon, wink.)
And the owners at NDH&C take excellent care of their horses (named Eddie and Lenny, in case you were wondering), something any animal lover can clearly see and appreciate.

For a $75 fee, you get to bring 3 other people along on a half hour clippity clop around The Wick. (Also, tbh no one was more relieved than I was to realize that it wasn’t $75 per person. Huzzah!)
