These Newport Spots Are Perf For Last Minute Shopping And Sweet Treats

Sure, there are lotsa terrific options for outdoor shopping if you happen to find yourself in the Providence, Cranston, or Warwick area, but have you considered Newport? It’s not just for summertime staycations and strolling or cheersing and revelry. On a whim yesterday we ended up in downtown Newport at Bowen’s Wharf, and Bannister’s, and I cannot say enough great things — especially if you’re looking to do a little last minute open-air-shopping somewhere with plenty of coastal charm and merry Christmas decor.

And that’s not all! If you’re looking to indulge in some top shelf sweets, and take in some gorgeous and iconic water views, allow me to offer up the “hot chocolate bar” at The Chanler at Cliff Walk. You can place your order in the patio area and then carry everything out to the lawn chairs, which we found quite comfy despite being surrounded by snow (more about THIS in a sec). We ended up going with 2 hc’s and 2 mini bags of marshmallows and mini bits of cookies and chocolate. My husband who loves to complain actually loved the hot chocolate and said it was one of the best ever.

So, bundle up in that cozy (faux fur) teddy bear or wool coat and drag out the cold weather footwear (now is not the time for anything precious) and get ready to enjoy a little xmas on the water.
