The Yummiest Baked Goods In Rhode Island You Probably Haven't Tried...Yet

I first heard about babka — the braided dessert bread that nowadays usually has swirls of chocolate, cinnamon, or both — in “The Dinner Party” episode from season 5 of Seinfeld, the one where Jerry and Elaine attempt to get their hands on one to take to a dinner at a friend’s after forgetting to take a number in a busy bakery. (Raise your hand if you are currently doing or have done a rewatch of the show via Netflix.)

Then, during the Summer of 2020, I popped into Notes Coffee Co. in Pawtucket and ordered some of the chocolate and cinnamon babka that they had on hand in their pastry case and that was the beginning of the love affair with BUNS Bakery.

And this is no flash in the baking pan: I have since planned entire afternoons around getting to the Providence Flea, The Hen House in Chepachet or more recently, the Tiverton Farmers Market just to get my hands on some of their baked goods.

Yes, everything is THAT GOOD!

A Few Weeks Ago At The Tiverton Farmers Market…

Their Cinna Babs (which Elaine was wrong about by the by, the cinnamon has been a real hit with everyone in our orbit and is definitely NOT the “lesser babka”), Razin’ Holla! (a challah bread with raisins that I slice up for toast in the am), Hippie Holla! (a challah made from whole wheat dough), and Holla! Pretzels are all quite scrumptious.

And will (dare I say) have you singing their praises at first bite.

Or at the very least sharing your rave reviews with your pals on social.

If you want to order any of their baked goods (they also do Rugelachs, Tarts & Burekas) this month, hop on over to their site and their Instagram.

As always, if you wind up ordering from BUNS Bakery after seeing this, please do let them know you found out about them here via Patty J and PattyJ.com.
