The Family Run Farm And Brewery In Exeter RI That's Really Hopping

We had a real Rhody-farm-to-glass experience yesterday at Tilted Barn Brewery in Exeter, the one and only brewery in the state that actually grows the ingredients on site that go into crafting their beer.

An old friend of mine used to pop over (pre-pandemic) on Friday nights with her husband. She was an early fan who loved the laid-back environment, back when it all centered around the original red barn from the land’s pre-brew life as a Christmas tree farm.

Well, there’s a new “barn” there (see photos below) and gotta say, it’s pretty great looking! It features an indoor space that functions as a tasting room as well as a good size patio overlooking the sprawling landscape.

Now I only know the current version of this family run biz because the hubs and I just made our first visit yesterday afternoon. With that in mind, let me just say that everything I’ve heard and read about their friendly service and the tastiness of their brews turned out to be spot on. We even met one of the sweet family dogs on our way to check-in with the hostess. (Dog people are some of the best ppl., amirite?)

In keeping with my ongoing al fresco dining policy, we sat out on the patio. (For the record, they do have indoors if that’s your jam right now.) Our server helped us pick out two ales from their menu (sooo many to choose from) he thought we would enjoy - Pasture, their fruity farmhouse ale, and Peeptoad, their citrus-y pale ale. I really enjoyed the Pasture, it was a lot lighter tasting than I was expecting.

And I would definitely go back and drink it again on that inviting patio space just as soon as we start seeing more spring (read: MILD) weather around these parts.

To reserve your seats at Tilted and find out more, you’ll want to go to their site.

As always, if you wind up motoring over for the first time because you read about them here, please let them know you found out about them via PattyJ.com.
