If You've Watched The Crown Or The Queen's Gambit, You'll Adore This Vintage Shop In Warren

We’re running out of things to watch at my house. While my husband is rewatching a lot of comedies from the 80’s and 90’s and sports, I have been glued to programs like Stanley Tucci’s Searching for Italy on CNN. Sad to announce, however, that I am up to date on all available episodes of SFI, so last night it was back to square one, searching on demand aimlessly.

Anywho I ended up settling in for the first few episodes of another docuseries on that same network, namely The Windsors: Inside The Royal Dynasty. Now for the record I am one of the few who will openly admit online that they did indeed doze off (and slept quite soundly in fact) trying to watch season 1 of The Crown on Netflix. Stayed awake for this one, though, and even sipped a few cups of hot tea to get into the spirit of the whole thing. (Pip, pip and cheerio!)

The thing is this morning I spied a listing (see photo below) for a vintage King’s Farewell silk scarf (featuring King Edward’s abdication speech when he split to marry American socialite and divorcée Wallis Simpson, an epic scandal at that time) and a Queen Elizabeth II Coronation souvenir tin via The Lady Next Door Vintage IG and flipped.

Unfortunately it was all already spoken for.

I bring this up because I’ve visited this particular shop in person (or irl as the kids say) — and also follow their Insta — and if you’re looking to scoop up some treasures from yesteryear, you’ll want to add them to your favorites.

In addition to mementos such as the ones above, Lady Next Door, located at 196 Water Street in Warren, has an appealing selection of apparel including handbags, hats, dresses, coats and much more. I mean, not to drop another Netflix reference (Reed’s gotta be over the moon about all the Oscar noms, btw) but it sounds like a marvelous way to revamp your wardrobe this spring and channel the main character (Beth Harmon) from The Queen’s Gambit’s style, if you’re so inclined.

In addition, anyone who follows fashion history will tell you that most of what you see on the runways during any given season can be traced back to looks adored and embraced 15, 25 or 50+ years ago in Paris, New York and London.

That being said, why not co-opt some of what labels like Gucci or Prada are probably showing right about now, only at a fraction of the retail price?

Prefer to stick with online shopping for the foreseeable future? No worries because Lady Next Door has updated their site to accommodate all your at home shopping needs: ladynextdoorvintage.com.

As always if you wind up shopping at The Lady Next Door Vintage (in person in Warren or online) because you read about them here, please definitely do let them know you found out about them via PattyJ.com.
