Shellebrating The Ocean State Maker Turning Beach Keepsakes Into Gorgeous Gifts

All the talk about pumpkin spice coffees and the (upcoming) clock change got you down?

Well, I have a way you can bring a little bit of summer — and the beach — to your home or office this fall and winter by way of this local maker’s lovely creations.

These Look Very Spe-SHELL

If you’re at all a fan of Tori Spelling’s ouevre of tell-all memoirs about growing up in LA as the daughter of one of Hollywood’s wealthiest and most successful tv producers of the 1970’s and 80’s (highly recommend btw, even if you didn’t enjoy Beverly Hills 90210, Melrose Place, Dynasty or Love Boat), then you might be familiar with her story about collecting shells on the beach in Malibu when she was a kid.

Apparently she would always find the prettiest ones and lots of them. (Hmmm…seems like something to be filed under too darn good to be legit.)

Years later, she found that her mom, who would stand next to her carrying a high end purse and puffing on a cig, was planting those fancy schmancy shells, that they had in fact been stashed in her mother’s handbag the whole time.

I say this because sure, it’s a classic kind of Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous (rip Robin Leach) story, but also because I have a way for you to wow the seashell fan or fans in your orbit — without any of Candy Spelling level trickery!

Shell We?

Yes, this season you’ll want to scope out Orange Seahorse Art on Instagram and Etsy for handpainted ones of the highest quality.

Their shells make marvelous gifts for any sea and sand lovers on your holiday list!

They offer a wide variety of oyster and clam shells sourced from right here in Rhode Island featuring seasonal motifs, timeless oceanic ones (fish, lobsters, sailboats, umbrellas, and the like), and much more.

They are also available at the Eclectic Bungalow in Wickford Village (a shop where I’ve picked up so many terrific straw bags, pajamas and gift-y items over the years).

As always, if you shop Orange Seahorse Art after reading THIS, please let them know you were inspired by Patty J and PattyJ.com.
