I’ve done it, and am guessing that at one point or another, you probably have too.

I mean, who hasn’t indulged in a compaint fest with a pal or perhaps quietly lamented to oneself that we (here in Rhode Island) don’t have as many au courant boutiques or coffeehouses as, say, Boston or New York City?

Well, friends, the new Little City Coffee & Kitchen on Mathewson Street in Downtown Providence reminds me of so many marvelous teeny tiny coffee shops in that big city known as The Big Apple.

Full disclosure, a few years back, I was in New Yawk for some FWNY shows (humble brag right here) and ended up spending a few hours cafe hopping, visiting about a half dozen or so highly regarded and oft Instagrammed ones —including Happy Bones, a micro coffee shop on Broome Street in Nolita.

And you know what? Little City reminds me a lot of HB and that micro coffee stop vibe and energy that Gotham seems to always have going on.

So, let’s all take a moment to celebrate having another awesome spot in the capital city for coffee, brekkie, and sweets, having VARIETY and options in addition to our old favorites and the national chain outposts.

Another plus? LC is located on a pretty tree-lined side street (some very Upper West Side or West Village feels) where you can sit and enjoy a Pumpkin Spice Latte (they have a full menu of all the classic coffee drinks as well as oat milk which is my go-to these days) and Cinnamon Chip Cider Scones (helloooooo, inspired and small batch baked goods).

If you can’t get an outside table, you can always take your order over to either the gorgeous Pedestrain Bridge or scenic Waterplace Park.

Little City is located at 170 Mathewson Street in Providence. They are open Thursday thru Monday from 7am to 3pm.

As always, if you grab coffee and a nosh there after reading THIS, please let them know you heard about them via Patty J and PattyJ.com.
