The Newport Restaurant Where The Locals Go For Brunch, Coffee, & Lunch

I’ve gotten food at CRU Cafe tons of times (both dine in and more recently takeout) but have never blogged about it.

That hit me over the weekend when the hubs and I poppped over for lunch after being turned away at a sandwich shop whose name I won’t mention.

Anywho, so glad we ended up at CRU in Newport because it was hopping (see pic below of their front patio space) indoors and out, and that’s when I had the light bulb moment.

In other words, why the heck haven’t I talked about THIS place online?

Open since 2015 and under the Russell Morin umbrella (If you LOVE their catered food…), this casual eatery has fantastic baked goods (I had a white chocolate chip and cranberry cookie the other day that was out-of-this-world), scrumptious sandwiches, and incredible brunch-y or brekkie foods including egg based dishes.

Breakfast items are available all day and regulars go gaga over their home fries or tots, avocado toast, crab cake sandwiches and more.

Also, it is byob, so if you fancy a mimosa with your quinoa scramble or wrap this winter or spring, you’ll want to plan accordingly.

Again, it was crazy busy on Sunday afternoon and the staff was extremely pleasant and upbeat.

Good to know, amirite?

Also gotta LOVE the black tees that many of the team were wearing with the slogan “Part Of The Cru” in white lettering on the back.

Highly recomment next time you’re in the City By The Sea and craving a greattt nosh.

Find CRU Cafe tucked away at 1 Casino Terrace (around the corner from Audrain Auto Museum) in Newport, RI.
