The South Kingstown Moon Gate And Gardens You'll Want To See This Season

If you missed Wicked Tulips and you’ve already made several trips to The Farmer’s Daughter this Spring, then I have another sweet spot just up the road.

Those in-the-know adore Kinney Azalea Gardens, but even if you’re a Rhode Island native or you’ve lived here for ages, you still might not be aware.

The Faellal family (direct descendants of Lorenzo Kinney Jr., the 4-H Director at URI who created the original gardens) tend to the grounds and keep everything open to the general public for FREE. PS: Donations are welcome and go towards the maintenance and preservation of the property.

The family also runs a nursery on the premises where visitors are able to shop and purchase native plants and flowers in season.

May is peak azalea season, but there are still plenty of reasons to take a spin over in June or July.

I mean, the holly trees will be in full bloom soon and there are tons of trails to explore.

Also, a wooden foot bridge.

And that moon gate, one of only two local ones that I’ve been able to locate since launching this site.

Search KAG online and you’ll probably stumble upon prom pix, fairy garden themed stuff, pregnancy photoshoots with that gate as a backdrop, and more.

Do keep your eyes peeled for the teeny tiny road sign, though, because it’s so easy to miss.

And there is a small parking area behind the owners’ residence which is always a plus.

Find Kinney Azalea Gardens at 2391 Kingstown Road in Kingston Village in South KIngstown.
