'Tis the season for rooftop bars...

I mean, Newport this time of year is everything!

And is there a better reason to motor over to the City By The Sea than the opening of Top of Newport, the stunning open air space at the tippity top of The Viking?

I think not.

In case you haven't heard, Top of Newport is opening for the season this weekend and it’s gonna be the place to kick off Memorial Day.

More reasons why you need to take your inner circle or significant other to the Top of Newport at The Viking?

Here ya go:

  1. The Views At Sunset. Yup. People always seem to single out millennials for being on their phones non-stop and taking too many pics but guess what? Last time we were there absolutely everyone, regardless of age, was on their phones taking pics of the sunset from that rooftop.

  2. Get The Burger And The Beer: You know what I’m sayin. It's one of the best times of year to be here in Rhode Island, so for Pete's sake, go ahead — indulge and enjoy. (They also have a nice selection of cocktails and small plates if those are your jam.)

  3. Live Music: It makes everything better. So, have that glass of Pinot and sing along to "Sweet Caroline,” maybe a little too loudly, making a complete fool out of yourself. I have and I will again…So good, so good, SO GOOD!!!

  4. Because Romance Matters: Surprise your new sweetie — or existing one — by taking them for a date night there. You'll earn beaucoup bonus points and it's way more fun than sitting thru another re-watch of The Notebook.

    5. The Celebrity Factor: Never know who you'll run into in Newport, or at The Viking, especially during the summer… if you get my drift. Can't name names, but I will say that the Viking has a long illustrious history of hosting world famous actors, musicians, and dignitaries.

What To Wear: Navy (your summer black), Jack Rogers (a Jackie O. fave), Gucci ‘72’s, and maybe some white linen (pair those new white linen pants with a graphic tee and Eva slides)
