The Pawtucket Kitchen Where You Can Get Some Of The Yummiest Pizza

I’ve had my eye on A Guy & His Pie (Detroit, deep dish style pizza in Pawtucket, Rhode Island) for quite a while, but just couldn’t seem to get over to their kitchen in the Lorraine Mills on the right days.

For some reason I kept thinking Sunday when it really should have been SATURDAY (more about their hours of operation and such in a second).

Anywho, the hubs and I pulled up to their space on Mineral Spring this past Saturday afternoon right when they opened at 1pm and there was already a line of folks wanting to get their orders in for this thick without being heavy pizza that (as I later found) melts in your mouth.

Their regular menu has a ton of choices from The OG and a Pepperoni to their White Pie or the Buffalo Chicken for every eater. They also offer specials that their regulars go wild over, not to mention focaccia bread sticks (orginal or honey jalapeño) that sound pretty darn good.

You can order a whole pie (their small is 8 X 10 and has 4 generously size pieces, the large has 10 X 14 and has 8) or go the by-the-slice route.

We did both, grabbing a slice of THE OG (their signature cheese blend, red sauce, fresh. basil, and grated parm) and a small Cacio E Pepe (their signature cheese blend, parm, black pepper, extra virgin olive oil drizzle).

And we had enough of the Cacio E Pepe left to bring a piece to my mom who thought it was one of the yummiest pizza she’s had in recent memory.

Honestly I’m usually not a big fan of the thicker style of pizza, but their Cacio E Pepe and OG pies changed my mind.

With most I’ve tried in the past, the cheese or a bread-y crust tends to dominate, making it flat and humdrum. With these pies, it’s more like a delicate symphony of delightful bursts of FLAVOR. (Cue the happy dance!)

Not sure how they do it, but they are head and shoulders above the crowd in terms of taste experience.

A Guy & His Pie is strictly takeout at this point, but I hear they are adding some outdoor seating in the not too distant future. You can also grab a cold drink — and even A Guy And His Pie t-shirts!

Find him at 560 MIneral Spring in Pawtucket, RI: He is open Wednesday and Thursday 5 to 8pm, Fridays 4 to 8, and Saturdays 1 to 5pm.
