The New Casual Breakfast And Lunch Spot Coming To Providence

Yesterday On Doyle Avenue And The 4th Photo Is From Our Brunch At Thick Neck A Few Months Ago

110 Doyle Avenue is getting a makeover…

And a brand-y new biz!

The folks (namely, chef Eric Brown, a Johnson Wales grad, and his wife Sarah Watts) behind the Thick Neck pop-up on the first floor of The Dean Hotel on Fountain Street in Providence — formerly occupied by North and prior to that Faust Hofbrauhaus — are opening Frank & Laurie’s, a sweet breakfast and lunch spot in the University Heights neighborhood named for Brown’s grandparents.

While waiting for this casual eatery to open (I’m guesstimating that the menu will be heavy on the American classics with pancakes, eggs and the like…some people online are apparently clamoring for somewhere similar to Kitchen, the micro-diner-style brekkie spot which is now Irregardless Biscuit), why not check out Thick Neck?

They are open Sundays 10am to 2pm for brunch, and Thursday, Friday, & Saturday nights from 5 to 10pm for din din.

When the hubs and I went a few months ago, I had the stewed greens and poached eggs on toast along with a Bloody Mary and everything was VERY tasty.

Haven’t had the chance to try the dinner menu, but if you do, let me know what you think. (I hear there are a lot of seafood options.)

Thick Neck is located at 122 Fountain Street (Downtown PVD) and Frank & Laurie’s (currently under condtruction) is situated at 110 Doyle Avenue (it’s the former home of Rebelle Artisan Bagels, don’t @ me, lol).
