My RI Life: Jewelry Designer Keryn Tommasiello

In today's 'My RI Life', it's RI native Keryn Tommasiello, jewelry designer, dancer, and all around fabulous individual. Read on to find out more about her and all her local favs.

According To Keryn

I design jewelry for specialty retail chain stores, as well as teach dance in my spare time. One could say that I’m spreading myself too thin, but I couldn’t picture my life without either. I studied Fashion Design at Syracuse University, from there I went off to NYC and worked for Betsey Johnson. How I got from point A to designing jewelry is a mystery, but I am thankful for it. You wouldn’t believe how fun it is for me to be able to go to work and express myself creatively. It makes me happy...after all, isn’t that the point?

Food And Restaurants

My go to coffee spot would have to be Cafe International. It's a second away from my house and the variety of flavors you get to choose from is crazy.

My guilty pleasure really isn’t a guilty pleasure... because it’s good for you. The Power Bar located inside of LA Fitness in Cranston has the most amazing shakes and smoothies on this earth. I go at least 4 times a week, but whose counting?

My favorite restaurant in Providence would have to be CAV. I thought I fell in love the moment I realized they had street parking, but when I saw the decor, I knew...The vibe is so cozy and welcoming. It’s hard not to just stare at the chandeliers all night. The food is incredible too. An added bonus.

Style And Shopping

I have a very laid back, casual feel to my style. I need to be comfortable, and love neutrals...Clover on Westminster is my favorite clothing store in Providence. If the cute Brussels Griffon sleeping in the window doesn’t make you want to stop in, the clothing surely will.

I think any outfit can be polished off with jewelry. I love how a necklace can transform an office look into a going out look. We like to call that “day to night". And it’s a perfect for someone who wants to go to happy hour straight from work. Just throw on a necklace and you’re ready...One style tip I have is maybe skip the necklace if you have a busy print going on with your clothing. Just polish off your look with a simple stud or stackable bracelets...When I get dressed, I basically put on every piece of jewelry I own at the same time because (again) I have a very laid back, casual style, that favors solid colors - either that or I can’t choose which piece I love most.

Jewelry, in the future, is starting to get very minimalistic. Clean, simple lines, hard collars accented with a pop of color...My go to jewelry OBSESSION is Capwell & CoI literally want every piece on their website, and the best part about them, is (that) everything on their site is under $100.
