Keep Calm, Spring Is Coming

Spring 2019 in Rhode Island: Warm today. Cold tomorrow. One place where the season is shaping up nicely, however, is The Farmer's Daughter in South Kingstown. And with Easter weekend almost here - and Earth Day happening on Monday, April 22nd - there’s no better time to breeze over to Farmer’s with the plant lady or ladies in your life for something festive, fresh, and green.

Bloom Baby, Bloom

After lunch the other day, I motored over to scope out exactly what they've put together for the new season and it was, in a word, marvelous. There's an abundance of fresh flowers for inside and out, including daffodils (no tulips yet…but I bet soon), as well as plants and small shrubs or trees (I was raised in the city, cut me some slack in terms of identifying and being able to name the different ones.). And that's just the outside. Pretty sure I've skipped over some other fantastic stuff, mostly because I was concentrating on taking decent I-Phone photos in the bright sun. (The two don't mix well.)

When In Doubt, Add Plants And Flowers

The most delightful part of Farmer's though, according to this blogger, is the row of greenhouses and sheds that frame one side of the property. Each section of those spaces actually has a different theme, with various flowers, plants, gift-y items, and props merchandised and stylized to tell the stories. (See photos above and below.) It’s so lovely, you won’t find anywhere else quite like it in this area!

There’s also an Egg Hunt this Saturday, at 11am and 2pm, and on Earth Day Monday, they’re doing 10% off all purchases. For info about flower arranging classes, additional events, and more, go to thefarmersdaughterri.com.
