The New Hygge Inspired Dining Experience At This Newport Hotel Sounds Incredible

Hygge-ing Out

I’ve spend the last 11 or so months looking for mostly outdoor activities because well, you know…

So, you can imagine my surprise and then utter delight (not to be confused with Udder Delights, the vegan ice cream makers based in Coventry, RI) when this morning I happened upon The Chanler’s official unvieling of their “Yurt Experience” that will premiere on February 5th.

It only took me a total of 3 minutes, during which I did employ some deep yoga breathing, before I dialed them up and thankfully secured a reservation for their very first week of service.

Now, food aside for a second, this heated and cozily decorated yurt (aka, a circular shaped tent whose origins may be traced back to nomad peeps in the areas of Mongolia, Siberia, and Turkey) that overlooks the world famous Cliff Walk and the always stunning Easton’s Beach would frankly be enough for me.

It doesn’t get much prettier around these parts!

Also, the interior lighting will be courtesy of candles and if you’re thinking of a date night with your S.O., you already know that candle light is the original (real life) Instagram filter.

Now, as far as food goes, any menu that features comfort foods like sea salt pretzels, potato cakes, housemade rye pasta, and (for dessert) vanilla buns with cardamon spiced meyer lemon curd gets the green light from yours truly. (Life without carbs seems gray and pointless, amirite?)

Yes, the 4 course Scandinavian Prix Fix menu is looks like an absolute dream for anyone who lives for thoughtfully created, wintertime comfort foods. And the Nordic way of eating is also, according to some light reading up on it circa this morning, quite healthy, in fact, just as much if not more so than the uber popular Mediterranean diet.

Naturally I’ll have more details and professional photos — hellooooo, Lisette Rooney Photography!!! — after our dinner there in a few weeks.

In the meantime, if you’re interested in securing a spot for the month of February (honestly I think 02-14 is off the table but maybe you can do a belated Valentine’s celebration), you’ll want to call them direct and old school at 401-847-2244.
