Channel Your Inner Kate Middleton With This Marvelous English Bakery In Middletown

British Vibes

Even if you don’t fancy a cuppa (tea), have never ridden the London Eye, or haven’t watched one single episode of The Great British Baking Show, you’re gonna luv this.

A while back we were in Middletown and discovered a lovely English bakery tucked away behind another strip mall plaza over on Aquidneck Avenue.

When we popped in, the owner was in the middle of baking meat pies (I mean, helloooooo) and she was kind enough to walk us through all the traditional sweets and treats she had available that particular day.

These days, if you want to partake of the carefully crafted scones, shortbread, rock buns (cakes you might remember reading about in the Harry Potter books) and flapjacks (which we learned were NOT pancakes but oat bars), June Loves English Bakery is continuing to pop up at a bunch of fall farmers markets in the Newport County area.

You will most definitely want to keep an eye out for June and/or her son at the open air market in Newport on Memorial Boulevard as well as at the ones at Casey and Mt. Hope Farms.

People have also been known to rave about the lemon tarts and cakes which, I might add, are just as tasty with coffee (as opposed to say Earl Grey) as an accompaniment.

So, channel your inner duchess or 70’s rock star and take a spin over to one of the outdoor markets to scope out all the classic English goodies.

Or plan a visit to the storefront on Aquidneck Avenue where sometimes June has different candies from the UK available too.

*June Love’s English Bakery is located at 496 Aquidneck Ave. in Middletown RI. They don’t have an Insta but you can follow their Facebook Page for updates.

CORRECTION: Thanks to a reader who tipped me off that the street address is actually 796 and not 496.
