A Really Grape Decision

I’d been wanting to visit Nickle Creek Vineyard in Foster for a while.

This past weekend we ended up in the vicinity by chance (after stopping at a farmstand on Scituate Ave. we got back on the road and just kept driving west) and decided to take the plunge.

There’s a dirt road, but don’t let that deter you.

As one of the women there said on Saturday, it only adds to the rustic ambiance.

The lawn at this family owned and run vineyard and winery is a terrific spot for a tasting (more about my wine flight in a sec) or for sharing a bottle with your friends.

There’s a variety of options when it comes to seating (including picnic tables and Adirondacks) and some tunes playing on the sound system.

We chatted with one of the owners at their outdoor pouring pavilion and she could not have been nicer, telling us the vineyard is named for her 2 sons (Nicholas and Kyle), all about their wines (naturally), and that a portion of the proceeds from their 2 Dog White (a chardonnay with hints of apples, melon, and vanilla oak) go to local, canine-related non-profits.

(In addition, they’ve teamed up with Rumford Pet Center on goodie bags that are gwp’s or gifts with purchase that you get whenever you buy a bottle of the 2 Dog.)

Yesss, friends, an absolute dream come true !!!

We can finally combine two (2) of our all time favorite things — drinking wine and helping dogs.

In addition to their 2 Dog, I really liked their signature and crisp Foster White.

People also rave their Foster Red and it’s another thing to bookmark for your daycation at 12 King Road this season.

I opted for their wine flight with their 2 Dog White, Pinot Grigio, Foster White, Pinot Noir, Strawberry Blush, and Summer Breeze, along with some Narragansett Creamery Cheddar and water crackers and a bottled water for the hubs.

It came to around $18 in total which is pretty darn reasonable if you ask me.

Highly recommend adding it your July or August 2021 itinerary.

Nickle Creek Vineyard is located at 12 King Road in Foster, Rhode Island.

As always, if you wind up wine-ing there, please do let the folks know that you found out about them via Patty J and PattyJ.com.
